Meet our Music Staff
Band
As a member of the Trojan Band, you are part of a rich tradition that dates all the way back to 1922. This is one of the oldest and most respected high school band programs in Colorado.
There are many types of performances for our marching band. Parades and pep tunes make up the majority of our performance time. But our most challenging, and some say “most fun” part of marching band is our show performance. Though some would call this our halftime show, it’s really more than that. It’s a chance for us to put together an entertaining and often moving performance with a theme. We strive to make each themed show something a subject we can dig deep and learn about.
Trojan Band Performance Highlights:
- Traveled to Disneyland to perform in 2019
- iHeart Longmont Trojan Marching Band 2018
- 2017 Longmont Trojan Marching Band presents A Journey Through the Twilight Zone on the field.
- Hamilton is one of the most original, exciting, and ground breaking musicals of the past 20 years. The 2016-17 Trojan band ventures into some uncharted territory and puts Hamilton on the field.
Concert Band Auditions: Band auditions will take place the first full week of November.
Choir
LHS is home to six rapidly growing choirs, including Chamber Singers and 9th Avenue Jazz. We consistently take home Superior ratings from CHSAA and Elitches Music Competitions. The choirs travel every year and we have been to Chicago, New York, Hawaii, and California. We perform with our Orchestra and Bands, as well as our feeder middle schools. Our students are hardworking and strive to improve in every rehearsal.
Orchestra
LHS hosts a String Orchestra, open to all students, as well audition-based. Symphony and Chambers Orchestras. Our Orchestras have consistently brought home high rankings from the CHSAA Northern Region Instrumental Music Festivals.
