Dear Longmont High Families,
Thank you for your patience and support during today’s Lockdown event. I know how frightening and concerning it can be anytime we have a safety concern in our community, and I am writing to share additional information about the issue that prompted the heightened security.
This afternoon, we were notified of a potential weapon sighting in the vicinity of Longmont High School. Out of an abundance of caution, and in alignment with our protocols, we immediately went into Secure Status, however due to the potential proximity to the school, the Longmont Police Department initiated a Lockdown. This was done out of an abundance of caution while law enforcement investigated. The Lockdown was lifted once the Longmont Police Department confirmed that there was no safety issue. Student safety is our highest priority and I would like to commend our students, staff, and teachers for following all safety protocols. I would also like to thank our law enforcement partners for their quick response. Our strong partnerships have a tremendous impact on supporting student safety and well-being. Gracias por su paciencia y apoyo durante el evento “Cierre de emergencia” ( LOCKDOWN!) de hoy. Sé lo aterrador y preocupante que puede ser cada vez que tenemos un problema de seguridad en nuestra comunidad, y escribo para compartir información adicional sobre el problema que provocó el aumento de la seguridad.
Esta tarde, fuimos notificados de un posible avistamiento de armas en el área de Longmont High School. Por precaución, y en consonancia con nuestros protocolos, entramos inmediatamente en estado de “Proteger” ( SECURE!); sin embargo, debido a la posible proximidad a la escuela, el Departamento de Policía de Longmont inició el cierre. Esto se hizo por precaución mientras la policía investigaba. El cierre de emergencia se terminó una vez que el Departamento de Policía de Longmont confirmó que no había ningún problema de seguridad.
