Bio
Darryl Abrahamson has been teaching at LHS for over ten years now. His ensembles consistently recieve Superior and Excellent ratings at State and National festivals and also perform at numerous events throughout the state. He also teaches privately and several of his students have made All-State Bands, Orchestras, and Jazz Ensembles, and have recieved scholarships at several universities throughout the state and country. He teaches Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Beginning Guitar, and Intermediate Guitar. In addition to teaching, Darryl also has an extensive performance career and was recently inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame alongside Chris Daniels whom he has been performing around the globe with now for over sixteen years. You also might have heard his playing on the local 9 News morning theme, several other radio and television commercials, at Front Range Jazz clubs, or at the Bronco's games as he has been the featured soloist with the Denver Broncos Stampede Drumline for the past nine years. He recieved his BME degree from the University of Northern Colorado where he was on a performance scholarship, and was the principal trumpet in the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds, as well as Jazz Lab 1, where he earned four consecutive Downbeat Awards. Before UNC he also attended Pacific Lutheran University, and the University of Arizona where he concentrated on performance degrees.
