Spanish for Spanish Speakers 1

This course is designed specifically to meet the needs of students who speak Spanish at home or elsewhere and so would not benefit from a Spanish as a foreign language class. A heavy emphasis on reading and writing skills in Spanish along with spelling and grammar lessons. Native/heritage students will develop strategic Spanish reading skills, while investigating the literary genres of expository essay, myths, fables, legends, poetry, short stories, and novels. Students will produce writing in various formats and genres including well-developed paragraphs, literary response items, expository essays, short stories or narratives, while continuing to develop skills in the correct use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Spanish is the language to be used 100% of the time in class for instruction and interaction between students.
