MBSA Students CU Pre-Health Day at Anschutz Medical Campus

On Septmeber 24th, a group of students from the MBSA program travelled to Anschutz Medical Campus for CU Pre-Health Day. During the full day experience, students took a campus tour, put their pharmacology skills to the test, attended lectures, and mingled with medical students and professionals. The presentations, geared towards high schoolers, introduced students to the fields of nursing, public health, medical anatomy, dentistry, pharmacy, and physical therapy.

Longmont High School Drumline makes World Championship semifinals

The Longmont High School Drumline advanced to the World Championships semifinals in Dayton, Ohio, after finishing third in its group of 15 in Thursday's preliminary competition.

The top four in each of the four groups moved on to the semifinals, which take place on Friday. The finals follow on the same day.

Longmont High now accepting MBSA applications for fall 2016 enrollment

The Medical & BioScience Academy (MBSA) at Longmont High School is now accepting applications from current 8th graders for fall 2016 enrollment in the MBSA program. Longmont High School band over the moon for Apollo program-themed music

Longmont High School band students are a little spacey these days.

This year the school's marching band has themed its halftime show around space exploration and NASA's Apollo program. The show is titled "Earth to the Moon" and incorporates not just space-age instrumental sounds, but sounds from some of the Apollo missions as well.

Longmont High Students and Staff Recognize U.S. Constitution Day

Thursday marks the creation of the U.S. Constitution back on September 17th, 1787. Longmont High students will be provided numerous opportunities to interact with "The Supreme Law of the Land", including listening to guest speakers from the Colorado University law program as well as examining and analyzing the Bill of Rights. 

Longmont student athletes give back to the community

Kelsey Walters is entering her first year as the coach of the Longmont High School softball team and she's hoping to bring a fresh start to a program that hasn't had a winning season since before she graduated from the school in 2009.

One recent tradition that Walters, 24, wants to continue, however, is the team's spirit of philanthropy. On Saturday, the Trojans will help out with the Tour De Cure Colorado in Longmont, a tradition started by her little sister, senior Hali Walters, four years ago.

Graduating St. Vrain Valley seniors say finding passions, new experiences let them make most of high school

As local graduating seniors look back on their high school experiences, they have a slew of suggestions to help incoming freshmen get the most out of their four years.

Their expert advice includes getting involved, but not overextended and keeping on top of homework, but not letting grades or test scores define you. Other recommendations include staying open to new experiences and new people and taking advantage of tutors and helpful teachers if you struggle with academics.
