St. Vrain high schools rank nationally in recent U.S. News & World Report Best High School Rankings

St. Vrain high schools continue to rank locally and nationally according to the recent U.S. News & World Report 2015 Best High Schools Rankings. In Colorado, St. Vrain high schools were compared to 448 high schools and four ranked in the top nine percent. Nationally, St. Vrain high schools were compared to more than 21,000 public high schools throughout all 50 states and the District of Columbia and four ranked in the top eight percent.

Longmont High advance jazz ensemble sounds off on radio Tuesday

The Rhythmaires, Longmont High School's Advanced Jazz Ensemble, play through Duke Ellington's "Caravan" on Thursday morning inside a large room littered with musical instruments.

Longmont High MBSA Seniors Present Internship Projects

On Thursday, April 30th, students in the Medical & BioScience Academy program at Longmont High School presented their senior projects. These students successfully completed semester-long internships and research projects and displayed formal posters to present summaries of their internship experience to LHS staff, members of the medical community, SVVSD school board members, parents, students and other members of the community.

Longmont, Silver Creek high school drumlines take first at state

Two Longmont high school drumlines came away from state over the weekend with first place titles to their names.

Silver Creek High School and Longmont High School won their respective categories Saturday at the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association State Championships at Broomfield's 1stBank Center. The Silver Creek percussion ensemble took first place in the Percussion Scholastic Open category, and Longmont High's ensemble took first place in Percussion Scholastic A.

LHS' SMART Team presents findings in Boston

For a team of Advanced Placement chemistry and biology students at Longmont High School, being SMART is a huge compliment. These 9 students are part of the SMART (Students Modeling a Research Topic) team that recently presented at the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology’s (ASBMB) conference in Boston, Massachusetts.

Longmont Drumline Marching to State

Others aren't even Longmont High students. They come from Niwot or Westview Middle School. But they all come together in the Longmont High School band hall to pound sticks against wood and skin and to be the best drumline in state.

"They're still a young group but they've grown a lot from last year," said band director David Merrill. "A really hardworking group of students. They get here early, they work outside of practice, they keep their grades up, they do everything really well."
