Longmont High School SMART Team Researches Ricin

STEM School

A group of students in AP Biology (including several MBSA seniors) have been a part of Longmont High School's SMART Team (Students Modeling A Research Topic). The SMART Team has been researching and studying the structure and function of the protein Ricin. With guidance from Dr. Shannon Colton and the MSOE Center for BioMolecular Modeling, students wrote a scientific abstract on Ricin, designed a computer model of Ricin using Jmol (a molecular visualization program), and printed a physical 3D model using rapid prototyping technology.
