Beginning Photography

Students will learn to use materials, tools and techniques for black and white, film photography. Specifics include: making exposures with a pinhole camera, using a 35mm SLR camera, developing film and enlarging negatives in a darkroom. Appreciation of photography as an art form and mode of communication is stressed. This class is for students who are self-motivated and disciplined. Most of the work is done independently in the darkroom. The reading for this course is often technical; therefore, better than average reading skills are recommended. A 35mm SLR camera is not required, but beneficial to have.
